War Documentation

My Grandma has dug out two mysterious envelopes for me to look through. I’d never seen these envelopes before, and when I asked my Dad he said he hadn’t either. Each labeled with ‘Joes belonging’. The missing ‘s’ gives the envelopes contents a whole new meaning. They are not his things, but instead evidence for his right to belong. The envelopes contain my Granddad’s war-time documentation. Some of them contain photos which I hadn’t seen before now.

From these documents, I have discovered the spellings of my great grandparent’s names, Szymon and Maryia; Where my Grandad was based in Germany; a photo of my Grandad at 16 years old or younger (the youngest of him we have). I am going to include some scans of the documents within my next post!
